When my good friend, Martina, asked me to photograph her and her boyfriend, Dan, during their road trip to the east coast, I couldn't say no. We started the long drive on Monday, October 12th with 125067 kilometers and returned home on Wednesday, October 21st with 130283 kilometers. The Kia Soul was packed full of food and luggage bags. It was an amazing journey that I will never forget!
The first night, we made it to Quebec City and toured the old parts of the city. The second day involved going to Fredericton as well as the Hartland Bridge. On the third day, we visited the Reversing Falls, Irving Nature Park, Hopewell Rocks and St. Johns. On the fourth day, we visited Peggy's Cove and Halifax. On day five, we made our way into Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and then took a ferry later in the day into Prince Edward Island, where we remained for the next few days. Day six consisted of horseback riding on the beach along the ocean, visiting Charlottetown and going on a walk of the Greenwich Dunes. On the seventh day, we were able to visit [Anne of] Green Gables, which happens to be Martina's favourite book. We also visited the Bottle Houses, which were quite the sight! Day eight consisted of driving back into New Brunswick via the Confederation Bridge and visiting Magnetic Hill. After that, we slowly began making our way home.
Along the way, I was able to get the full story on how Martina and Dan had met. Apparently Martina had been biking with her sister and dogs. They happened to bike past Dan's house when suddenly his dogs came running out at them, barking. That's when Dan came outside to see who was there. They describe their relationship as being, "love at first sight".
Thanks again for having me come along on your trip, Martina and Dan! I can't wait to see what the future holds for you two!
"Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses."
